This is a reminder of the workgroup meeting we have planned to discuss the toxicity values under consideration for inclusion in the 2012 MCP revision.

MassDEP’s Bureau of Waste Site Cleanup is planning to revise the MCP in 2012, and a number of toxicity value changes (and resulting changes to the numerical standards) are being considered for inclusion in the revision.

MassDEP will hold an external workgroup meeting to discuss the possible changes with risk assessors, toxicologists, and anyone else interested in the toxicity value revisions.

  1. IRIS just released the IRIS Toxicological Review for Tetrachloroethylene:

    The cancer slope factor and unit risk values are significantly lower (less conservative) than MassDEP values. On the other hand, the RfD/RfC values are much more conservative than the MassDEP values. Will these new IRIS values be included in the revised Method 1 standards?
